Construction of the photovoltaic system on the roof of the production hall
Sustainability has become an overriding concern for companies. Given increasing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) regulations, companies are faced with many challenges on their journey to the green transformation.
In order to manufacture our products in an even more sustainable way, Bene is constructing a new photovoltaic system on the roof of the production hall in Waidhofen an der Ybbs: a thermal roof refurbishment project has been under way since May 2023. The existing roof covering (cold roof) will be replaced by a much lighter warm roof structure to enable the installation of a photovoltaic system. The better insulating properties of the new roof covering will enable a considerable reduction in the heating requirement. As a result, the chip requirement for the new heating system will drop sharply and the chips can therefore be sold as recyclables. The need for heating oil will even be eliminated entirely.

Following discussions with Sustainable Finance specialists at Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), it turned out for us that the ideal solution is sustainable financing of the project in compliance with the EU taxonomy. This product offers attractive terms and conditions for the overall package and this type of green financing can also be accounted for in the sustainability report – a 100% sustainable project in accordance with the strictest EU directives, and thus a project that everyone benefits from.
